Jutta Bolt is Professor in Global Economic History at the University of Groningen and Lund University. Her research focusses on long-term comparative economic and social development patterns, with a special focus
on Africa. Current research projects include understanding long-term disease patterns in Africa (Wallenberg Academy Fellowship extension grant), understanding the historical origins of present-day income inequality in Africa and studying the historical development of local and central government capacity in Africa.
